Description:
Abaloparatide is a parathyroid hor mone-related protein (PTHrP) analog drug used to treat osteoporosis. Like the related drug teriparatide, and unlike bisphosphonates, it is an anabolic (i.e., bone growing) agent. In 2017, it was approved to treat postmenopausal osteoporosis in the United States.
Application:
-Treatment of postmenopausal women with osteoporosis at high risk for fracture
-Increase of bone mass in men with primary or hypogonadal osteoporosis at high risk for fracture
-Treatment of men and women with osteoporosis associated with sustained systemic glucocorticoid therapy at high risk for fracture
